Martin Bushman

Guitarist / Harmonies

Martin’s musical direction was shaped in the blues clubs of the Midlands working town where he grew up and played his first gigs.  He honed his craft as a guitarist and musician with numerous bands, working as a recording engineer and producer.  In the mid 90’s Martin teamed up with Midge Ure’s Ultravox rhythm section gigging in London and the South East with occasional appearances with soul bands Boogie Wonderland and the Orient Express Band.  After moving to the Western Country he formed Memphis, a southern blues/rock collaboration and subsequently spent five years keeping it country with the Chagstock Festival house band New Crisis.  Martin uses Fender and Tom Anderson Telecaster guitars and vintage Fender, Matchless, Mesa Boogie amps.  Citing Albert Lee, Vince Gill, and Brad Paisley as inspirational players his key influences today include Nashville players like Chris Reitzinger, JT Corenflos, Kenny Vaughan and Steuart Smith.   Hoping to capture the essence of modern country guitar musicianship in his playing, Martin is working to keep Wrecking Ball on its trajectory as the edgiest hard driving new country band in the UK.
